"The Horrid Thing!" by A. B. Frost (1851-1928). A humorous scene of a cow going where he doesn't belong by one of the great early illustrators of the 20th century, A. B. Frost. He was a prolific illustrator as well as comic artist, and is also well known for his paintings of hunting and golfing themes. He had a successful career in both the United States and Europe, and studied for a time under Thomas Eakins. He worked side by side with Frederick Remington and Howard Pyle at Harper's publishing, illustrating stories, news events, and political humor. This is a RARE color plate from Colliers, dating to 1906...in very good condition considering that it is over 100 years old (top right corner of paper has some wear, but does not encroach upon the image). A unique piece for your collection. Print image size 12 1/2" x 9". Only one in stock.
