"The Staten Island Ferry" by Paul McGehee. The "Mary Murray" was launched in 1937 and had a long career on the route between New York City to Staten Island, New York carrying passengers and automobiles back and forth. "Mary Murray" is shown here in 1952 on a grey day's run from Staten Island back to Manhattan, steaming past the Statue of Liberty. She was named after the charming woman who, during the Revolutionary War, "distracted" British General William Howe just long enough to allow troops to sneak through the streets of Manhattan to resupply and reinforce General George Washington's Continental Army, which was waiting in the Harlem section of what was to later be known as New York City. "The Staten Island Ferry" is an archival-quality print in limited edition from the original oil painting...hand-signed and numbered by the artist. Print image size: 7 1/4" x 9". Edition size 500 S/N. (Final shipping cost on this small print may indeed be less than actually displayed upon purchase, depending upon destination and weight.)
