The Old Executive Office Building (Paul McGehee)
[Hand-Signed]
$150.00

"The Old Executive Office Building" by Paul McGehee is an atmospheric moonlit night view from 1890. The stately structure was built next to the White House in Washington, D.C. between 1871 and 1888, designed by Alfred B. Mullet in the architechtural style known as "Second Empire". The building first housed the Departments of State, War, and Navy. Theodore and Franklin D. Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, and George Bush all had offices in this building before becoming President. Every Vice-President since the 1960s have carried out their official duties within these walls. After years of service, and dodging the wrecking ball in 1957, this beautifully restored old building is now called the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. To this day, the almost 150 year old building still houses the various agencies that comprise the Executive Office of the President, such as the Office of the Vice President, the Office of Management and Budget and the National Security Councillor. "The Old Executive Office Building" is faithfully reproduced as an archival-quality print from McGehee's original color pencil drawing, each hand-signed by the artist. Edition size 500 S/N. Print image size: 10" x 17 1/4".
