"The Supreme Court by Moonlight" (remarqued) by Paul McGehee. The Supreme Court of the United States at dusk, on the first Monday in October, 1938. One of the most beautiful of all structures in our nation's capital, Washington, D.C., is the building of the Supreme Court of the United States. The building, begun in 1932 and completed in 1935, is in the Corinthian style of architecture and its exterior is comprised of gleaming white marble. Since the inception of the United States, and until the construction of the Supreme Court building, the Justices had been meeting in various other chambers to make the nation's judicial decisions...most recently in the "Old Senate Chamber" of the U.S. Capitol. It took 146 years for the third branch of our government to have its own venue to carry out "Equal Justice Under Law." Print image size: 20" x 32".
