"Alexandria
- The Waterfront by Moonlight" by Paul McGehee. This is a beautiful
moonlit panorama of the famous Virginia
port city's waterfront. Alexandria is located near our nation's capital
of Washington, DC. The view looks out towards the
Potomac River on a summer's evening...the vantage point is the
promenade along the docks of the City Marina, in front of Old Town's
"Torpedo Factory" arts center. Visible in this scene are some of the
various Potomac Riverboat Company excursion vessels which dock along
the waterfront: the "Admiral Tilp," the paddle-wheeled "Cherry Blossom"
and "Miss Christin." The "Miss Christin" is better known as the
"baseball boat"...she regularly takes passengers over to Nationals
games across the river and back during the summer months. Left of
center in this picture, the "Chart House" restaurant can be seen, with
diners enjoying a bite to eat while watching the moonlit reflections
dance in the waters of the Potomac River. A truly beautiful and
peaceful scene. "Alexandria - The Waterfront by Moonlight" is
faithfully reproduced as an archival-quality print from McGehee's
original oil painting issued in a limited edition of only 2,000 pieces,
each hand-signed and numbered by the artist.
