"Passing
Thomas Point" by Paul McGehee. One of the most striking sights on
Maryland's Chesapeake Bay is Thomas Point Lighthouse, now over a
century old. Still serving as a beacon to passing ships, she is one of
the last remaining screw-pile type lighthouses in the United States,
and one of the very few in the world still in use. For most of her
career, she was manned, with the keeper and keeper's family living
within. Located near Annapolis and maintained by the United States
Coast Guard, Thomas Point Lighthouse is today a cherished landmark to
yachtsmen and merchant seamen alike. This special print is from a small
miniature oil sketch Paul did on location in 1980. "Passing Thomas
Point" is an archival-quality print in limited edition from the
original oil painting...hand-signed and numbered by the artist. |
