Old Memphis - The Steam Packet "Idlewild" in 1920 (Paul McGehee)
by David Tschiggfrie Date Added: Thursday 03 June, 2021
Paul's print of the Memphis packet/excursion boat IDLEWILD in 1920 is excellent! This historic steamboat, the oldest Western Rivers steamboat in the United States (she has been in continuous operation 106 years as of this writing) is very well done, with faithful attention to detail. My own collection of steamboat prints includes one of this boat as she appeared in 1950 as the AVALON, and another as she looked in 1977 as BELLE OF LOUISVILLE. I was delighted to find this outstanding print of the steamer in her early years to complete my collection! I would highly recommend this print to anyone who enjoys Mississippi steamboats.
